(CNN) --- Are your Web surfing fingers getting tired?

There may be a reason. Netcraft, an Internet monitoring company that has tracked Web growth since 1995, says a mammoth milestone was reached during the month of October.

"There are now 100 million Web sites with domain names and content on them," said Netcraft's Rich Miller. (Watch as the Web gave birth to the virtual self -- 2:44)

Social networking fuels new Web boom

(CNN) -- If you haven't already created a cyber profile on a social networking Web site like MySpace.com or Facebook.com, you're part of a rapidly shrinking minority.

With growth rates unheard of since the online boom of the late 90s, the question every investor worth his bandwidth secretly wants to know the answer to is whether the gold rush is going to last.
